Our story
Come as guests, leave as family.
In 2000 I came to Bali for the waves.
After the 2002 bombings, a Balinese family took me in. Twenty-five years on, that family runs Villa Blue. I'm in the background — they're who you'll meet.

I'm Simmo. I'm Australian. I first came to Bali in 2000 chasing waves and sunshine, and what I found was something deeper — a culture rooted in kindness, resilience, and community.
When the 2002 bombings happened, I was here. A Balinese family took me in and looked after me. That bond never broke. Over the years I’ve supported them and their children, and was given the honour of naming one of them.
Villa Blue grew out of that friendship. The family lives here. They run it. Wayan and Wayani — who you’ll meet when you arrive — look after every guest in person, cook, clean, and make sure your stay feels like home.
I’m in the background, helping where I can. When you book, you’re booking into their home, not a hotel.
Villa Blue isn’t just a place to stay. It’s twenty-five years of friendship made into a home you can borrow for a while. Come as guests, leave as family.
